A message from Jeannetta Politis, Executive Director

Jeannetta Politis, Executive Director

For over 20 years, The Joshua Group has been a beacon of hope for at-risk, impoverished youth in the Allison Hill neighborhood of Harrisburg. Over the years the need for alternatives to the education available in the city has grown and we now serve over 200 students annually. Our dedicated staff works tirelessly to ensure each student feels as though they have a safe place, an ally, and hope here at The Joshua Group.

Our focus has always been on education, and we will continue to make that a focus while we ensure our students receive the educational support they need to be have a successful academic career. Our early childhood education program with licensed preschool and kindergarten classes helps to build the foundation upon which they will grow from academically. Our Student Opportunity Scholarship Program provides scholarships for qualifying students in kindergarten through 12th grade to attend private school as an alternative educational opportunity. We provide educational support to these students through our academically focused J-Crew After School program and our Summer Learning Program that also includes mentoring and enrichment activities.

By supporting and nurturing our students year after year, we see measurable results as they grow academically. One student who started with us in preschool and will be graduating from High School this year with honors and has been accepted to the college of her choice. Another student will be graduating from high school this year who was failing all his classes when he came to us. Now he does not have a grade lower than a B, has been accepted to the college of his choice when he never considered college as an option before coming to The Joshua Group.

We have countless stories of how our students have been able to thrive in the community that is The Joshua Group. The support from our donors has made this possible. It has provided and continues to provide our students with an opportunity to have access to educational opportunities they would not otherwise due to socio-economic challenges.

Thank you for all the continued support you provide for our students.

On behalf of our students and from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU!
