J-Crew
In 2004, we started another very unique and successful program dubbed the J-Crew (the boys named it). The J-Crew is an after school mentoring/tutoring program that partners referred at-risk 7th. and 8th. graders from our neighboring public school with a group of our older Joshua Group kids. they spend their time together working on at-risk youth prevention skills, homework assignments and recreational activities.
The Joshua kids take seriously their responsibility to the younger kids and appreciate this opportunity to give back, while the younger kids are eager to seek the advice and encouragement that comes from a "been there, done that" youth who has had similar life experiences in the neighborhood.
